Introduction

Xi Shi Gu Li (Hometown of Xi Shi) is a national AAAA level scenic resort, and also a park devoted to Xi Shi. Xi Shi was born in Zhuluo Village in Zhuji during the Spring and Autumn Period (770-476 BC). Whether she was slim or plump, wearing makeup or not, the exquisite features of Xi Shi were known to everyone and always take beholders’ breath away. She is a legendary beauty, and one of the renowned Four Beauties of ancient China.

The most famous story about Xi Shi is the “Xi Shi Huan Sha”, and the scenic area was built on the stream where the beauty washed silks. The scenic area mainly consists of the Xi Shi Temple, Famous Chinese Ancient Ladies Hall, Fan Li Temple, the Folk Museum, the Zheng Family’s Ancestral Hall and the ancient street in Yue Kingdom. The famous Chinese idioms “Chenyu Luoyan” and “Dongshi, The Copycat of Xishi” find their roots here. The area is the hometown of the beauty Xi Shi and visitors can easily find many interesting stories about her. There is a stone engraved with two characters- “Huan Sha”, which are said to be written by Wang Xizhi, one of the greatest calligraphers in ancient China.
