Introduction
The Baizhangji Waterfall Scenic Area is located in southwest Wenzhou. Covering a total area of 2.95 sq km, it is renowned for its splendid waterfalls and beautiful lake and has been included as a National Key Scenic Area. Besides the Baizhangji Waterfall, the area also consists of the National Forest Park Tongling Mountain, Tianding Lake, Wencheng Country the hometown of Liu Ji - a famous general in the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), Feiyun Lake and Double Dragons.
The Baizhangji Waterfalls can be divided into three sections with long and wide waterfalls, forming a glorious water scene along the valley. The first section is called The First Ji (waterfall) falling 207 meters, which is the highest waterfall in China. As water pours down from the steep cliff, the sound becomes louder and louder like rolls of muffled thunder. The Second Ji (waterfall) drops 85 meters and is divided into two folds by a rock corridor in the middle. It looks like a water curtain hence it got a nickname “Huaguoshan Water-Curtain Cave”. The Third Ji (waterfall) falls from 12 meters high and is more than 80 meters wide. It has a shallow pond surrounded by rocks at the bottom. The three waterfalls are called the Baizhangji Waterfall because according to calculations the three waterfalls are 287 meters in total, more than 100 zhang (1 zhang equals 10 feet).
Another attractive scenic spot is Tianding Lake at the top of the Baizhangji Waterfall. The whole lake is actually composed of three little lakes: the Outer Lake, the East Lake and the West Lake, each with clear water. These places of interest have attracted flocks of visitors.
