Rediscover Ancient Road –Xianxia Pass Three-day Tour
Go throught Xianxia Pass, and along the Xianxia Ancient Road, you can take an overview of Mt. Jianglangshan, Xianxia Hill, Maple Hill, Pear Hill and other landscapes. They are so magnificent that attracts lots of men of literature who have left many poems here. Although the majesty of Xianxia Pass has gone, there are many relics left for us to appreciate and reminisce.
Reach silent ancient pottery village, Hemu Ancient Painted Pottery Cultural Village, at half past ten. It is the largest and most concentrated original kiln group in China. Here, you can guest in a master’s home and appreciate the whole pottery firing procedure. If time permit, you can make a pottery for your lover.
In the evening, stay at Jiangshan Hemu Jiayuan B&B, where you can feel the kindest services of local people.
Get up early to take a sip of fresh air of Mt. Jianglangshan. Reputed as the world natural heritage, it boasts fancy Danxia Landform. Here, the road is made around the mountain so that it is narrow and steep. Once there is heavy mist, you will be surrounded by the sea of clouds, which resembles a fairyland. Ascending the top of the mountain, you can see Wentian Pavilion, which is the best place for overlooking the continuous mountains and majestic natural landscapes.
Then, drive to the ancient town, Nianbodu, which is an open folk cultural museum. The houses are built in Ming and Qing Dynasties along the pass on both sides, Xunli Street in the north and Fengxi Street in the south. Rambling on the flagged stone paths of the ancient town, you will visit the primitive old residences, experience the special local habits and folklores, and feel the distant culture of Nianbadu, which helps you quickly escape from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis.
After breakfast, keep going on the ancient road to retrieve the distant past. The next stop is Xianxia Pass, which is blazed by Huangchao Insurrectionary Army in Qin and Han Dynasties. Reputed as “key of the southeast, throat of entering Fujian”, it is the only official road to Fujian from Zhejiang in ancient times. For the extraordinarily majesty sceneries and the significant location, most men of literature came and left numerous famous poems here, making it into a road full of poems of Southern Song Dynasty. Apart from poems, you also can hear about all kinds of stories along the way, for example, the stories about the guarding soldiers, the stories about busy peddlers, the stories about hardworking scholars going for the rare examinations, and etc.
